Can I offer you anything?

So, I'm out with my girls this morning for a walk. We weren't going for a leisurely walk we were actually working out. I've just finished week 2 of boot camp and after 3 days in a row of HARD work outs we were adding in an extra work out to keep the momentum going. The three of us decided to walk up to the top of Queen Elizabeth Park, it's a pretty intense hill to get to the top, there are really three hills with some flat bits breaking them up. My friends have been working with a personal trainer for the previous year and I will admit that I was sucking wind pretty hard to keep up with them. I did it though and it was a really great feeling. We get to the top of the park and work our way down the back end and around to the beginning and then off into the neighbourhood. I am breathing hard, I am sweating and I am tired, but I'm so happy to get to the top. As we make our way through the park we pass many people and we always say good morning. Just as we get to the top this older woman walking towards us zeros in on me and with a bit of a laugh and a nasty smirk on her face says "Wow, your obviously not used to walking up these big hills, You need to be careful." What I heard was, "Ha ha, look at how the fat girls are huffing and puffing from walking up the hill!"

You know, it really pisses me off that she assumed that we were a bunch of out of shape people just because we are not skinny. I would have liked to see her get up that hill as fast as we did. We are working so hard to get fit and be healthy and having someone laugh at you for it really sucks. The woman who is training us is constantly amazed at how hard we work and how much we can do in every aspect of our work out. She has mentioned that she tells the other group that she trains, mostly thin woman, how impressed she is with the intensity we put into our work outs every day.

I know it's stupid to let someone I don't even know affect me so much but I know when I'm being mocked and I don't appreciate it.

I wish I could have said something to her but the moment went by so quickly so I have to say it here.

Hey lady, I'll kick your ass.

Team- No Babies!

I wrote this comment on a friends blog and I thought I would share it here. She is in her early 30's and definitely doesn't want babies. She has struggled with different birth contol and been on the pill for many years. She has always known she doesn't want kids and her husband agrees. Her doctor refuses to tie her tubes because she might change her mind.
You can go here to read her words.

Here's my comment...

Makes me so mad!I never understood why CHOOSING not to have babies isn’t celebrated. I mean, for every person I know who accidentally got pregnant or whose baby making decision was based on “let’s see what happens”, for all the people who got pregnant to fix a relationship or attach themselves to a partner, or just figured “it’s just one more” or “I always wanted 5 kids” or had one more to keep the only child company, more thought is put into getting a pet.Why don’t we get a fucking parade?? I mean seriously, we should be having No-Baby Showers, you can buy us trips to adult only resorts, whisky and cigarettes and bottles of toxic cleaners that we can store on easy to access bottom shelves.I don’t care what your choice is but if it’s No Babies it should be respected and appreciated. Last time I checked we still had a choice but it seems like very few people actually make the choice and the only one that counts is pro babies. You can guess what team I play for. Sorry for the rant.

Carry on.

Mr Clean????

I took the day off to do some house cleaning and I am just about as frustrated as I could be. I don't know how it got so damn dirty in here and I am not applying myself like I sometimes do and getting it all done at once. I am distracted and disinterested and pissed off.

My cock-a-doody vacuum cleaner is not working. I have never had good luck with these stupid contraptions and it seems paying a little more and getting a real vacuum cleaner doesn't make a damn difference. I swear to God the bloody thing gave up the ghost the minute the warranty timed out.

It's a Bissell upright and it's about as useless as tits on a bull. How much do you have to pay to get a half decent vacuum cleaner? I could probably get this one repaired but I don't like the way it cleans anyway so what's the point. Oh, it sucks, but the brush doesn't turn now. WTF?

I just spent an hour scooting around the kitchen on my ass sucking up bits of dirt with the crevasse tool.

That does it, I am going to tidy up and have the cleaning service come in to do a proper job then it's off to buy a new vacuum cleaner I guess. Anybody have a vacuum they would recommend? It helps if it pulls itself out of the closet when I'm not here and gives the place a going over. I would settle for one that works and doesn't seem to just blow the dust around. And no uprights. Never again.
Gah! I am procrastinating. And another thing...

Just kidding. Getting back to work now.

I was looking for an image to go with this post and typed in "frustrated housewife", WOW, soooo much porno.

You want a piece of me?

So many feelings today it's hard to sort through them. Woke up in an unpleasant way and was in tears within 10 minutes. Had a big bawl and was comforted by Superman and then he turned around and made it worse. Then I was sad and mad. Fuck!
Bff called and I burst into tears again, told her the whole story and received some comfort. Then we decided to go to Kits Pool and swim some laps and talk things through. It was the right thing to do Bff is also a member of my family and my troubles are coming from my clan so it's just good to be able to talk to someone who knows the history, is a great listener and has good mental health advice for me. Getting exercise at a time like this is also great. Relieves stress and gets my mind somewhere else.
Frustration! I fucking hate being misunderstood and email is so evil sometimes. Things get taken out of context and with the wrong tone and intention far too often. Oh yes and things that are said can not be taken back after the send button is pressed so you better be sure. I had some pretty horrible shit thrust at me last night and I tell you I didn't handle it well. I shoved some right back. Enough already, it's not a fucking contest to see whose feelings are the most hurt. Who wants to win that one? Not me.
I'm angry, surprised, disappointed, flabbergasted, misunderstood, disrespected, discouraged and feeling violated. Did I mention I am pissed off?
This is the second time this year that I have ended up in an email war with someone and let me tell you they only get worse as they progress, not better. I have to take some responsibility for not learning my lesson the first time. Lesson learned. Never again.
Oh and Facebook is the spawn of the devil. A playground for passive aggressive bullshit.
Here's my Facebook status- Barb is...Fuck You!

Where in the nursery rhyme does it say humpty dumpty is an egg?

I just checked my facebook and there is an acquaintance on there who asked the question "Mr. Humorless Fuck*....wonders why any woman with a gram of intelligence/integrity would claim to relate to any of the characters in Sex in the City."

*not his real name.

Really! Do we have to defend everything we enjoy? How does relating to TV characters make us less intelligent or have anything to do with integrity?? I haven't seen the new movie yet but I am totally looking forward to it. Do I relate to any of the characters? Damn straight. Let's see, I live in a major city, I work in the fashion industry so I do actually get the fashion angle and yes I have spent way more than I should on shoes, drank too many martinis in an over priced bar and made poor decisions when it comes to men. I have a group of very close girlfriends, any one I could call right now and get the time of day about almost any issue I might have. Yes, we do talk about sex sometimes but recently found ourselves discussing how we work the household money when there are two of us and we don't bring home the same amount on our pay cheques. In the last little while we have also spent a lot of time discussing cancer, death, marriage, having babies, not having babies, fitness, depression, money, etc. Sometimes we are dressed up nicely when we discuss these things and sometimes we are in our track pants, or pajamas but if we were doing it on TV we would probably dress up more. We spend a lot of time laughing when we are together and as we get older we cry more too. The issues get heavier and more real and the shoes get less important. One thing for sure is we all have integrity and we all are intelligent people who may or may not enjoy Sex in The City but between all of the characters there is something almost anybody can relate too. Sure some of it is shallow and materialistic but so what. Intelligent women can tell the difference. As for Mr. Humorless Fuck, give us a break and stop taking yourself soooo fucking seriously. Don't worry, when we get together we're NOT talking about you. is that what really worries you?
I think statements like that really show a lack of respect for women and just reinforce the idea that beauty=stupid. And that TV shows are real.
You can be attracted to a woman who takes care of herself and puts some effort into her looks and also feel like she's lacking in integrity because she cares about how she looks. Or maybe you're hoping she's too stupid to notice that you are kind of a jerk.
Bah!
I mean, have a great day!!
Alright, just for spite I have to ask- Which one of the characters from Sex in The City do you relate to the most?
